About lightchaser photography - images by j. kiely jr.
Lightchaser Photography – currently creating all manner of dynamic corporate imagery, commercial imaging, portraiture, and always seeking extended social documentary projects.
While a staff photographer at daily and community newspapers from May 1994 to June 2007, I developed a keen news judgment and the ability to think multiple steps ahead all the while staying in tune with my surroundings. I make every effort to create images apart from the crowd by advanced research and planning always seeking the image that tells the story.
Before my decade-plus adventure in newspapers, I worked in a family photography studio in Needham and photographed every type of event - including weddings - imaginable.
While at college I balanced my studies in political science and architecture by making images for every possible campus publication in addition to some freelance sports photography for the city daily The Worcester Telegram & Gazette.
–– I am a photographer who believes in the unique power of the still image to tell stories and enlighten. I have a broad-based background, experience, tools and the skills to photograph on land, under the sea and in the air.
Please contact if I could help your next project or for more information.
Specialties: I was baptized into the craft of photography in a tray of Dektol in a real dark room (and I miss it) – 4x5 cameras, 35mm SLR film and digital SLR cameras, location photography, studio photography, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom, Apple Aperture, and related imaging work flow techniques, studio and location lighting, image archiving, digital asset management projects, Quark design projects, Apple Macintosh computers, rebreather and Nitrox qualified SCUBA diver, FAA private pilot with instrument rating.
